Eco-friendly

The bark of the cork tree is removed every nine years causing large amounts of oxigen to be released by the tree into the environment. Thermal CorkShield is a greener naturally renewable resource.

Efficient harvesting method

Every 9 to 10 years the bark of the Quercus Suber (Cork Oak tree) is harvested. The removal of the bark allows the tree to grow bigger. The tree itself will live for hundreds of years allowing for many more harvests. Once the bark is removed, the tree will release large of amounts of oxygen, benefiting our environment.

Mildew Resistant

Cork contains a fatty acid, suberin, which repels rot and prevents mold and mildew growth. In recent lab tests, our product developed zero mold growth.

Semi-Permeable

Cork prevents water from passing through but allows water vapor to escape, preventing rot.

Durable

Thermal CorkShield™ is extremely resistant to harsh conditions, only fading 1% – 2% annually. One on the natural properties of cork is it will never reach a freezing point even after being submerged in liquid nitrogen.

Fire retardant

Cork is a naturally fire retardant material that will not release incandescent particles nor will the flames propagate. It slows or stops the spread of fire or reduces its intensity. This is accomplished by chemical reactions that reduce the flammability of fuels or delay their combustion. Thermal CorkShield™ has a class A fire rated from ICC.

Flexibility-Elasticity

Our product has elastic properties which means that it can expand and contract depending on the weather. Unlike stucco and paint, our product will not chip or crack. Due to its flexibility, Thermal CorkShield™ has the capacity to recover the initial volume after experiencing deformation. It can virtually eliminate the cracking seen in most stucco finishes.
