FAQ's

Will I have to modify my building to
support the product?

No, 88% of Thermal CorkShield™’s volume is air. This translates to a lower density; approx. between 0.12-0.24 quartz/ lb.

How is the product
applied?

Thermal CorkShield™ is spray-applied using a texture sprayer by one of our Certified Installers to ensure quality and consistency, every time

What type of surfaces will Thermal CorkShield™ stick to?

Because the cork is lined with micro suction-cups that permit it to adhere to the surface without allowing it to slide, it has a High Friction Coefficient, allowing it to adhere to almost any surface! Brick, stucco, wood/composite/metal siding, glass and more. With the exception of vinyl siding, we can coat pretty much anything.

Is it toxic? Can my pets and I be at home when it is sprayed?

No, we are proud to offer a water-based product with other natural and renewable resources that results in a non VOC and non-toxic formula, even when airborne.

What colours are available?

We currently have 30+ colours to choose from, each fading on average 1-2% annually. Custom colours are available upon request with select Certified Installers.

Can anyone purchase and spray Thermal CorkShield™?

Exclusive opportunities are available! Contact us directly to discuss how to become a Certified Vipeq Installer.

Does cork add R-value to my home?

Thermal CorkShield™ works along with an already existing or properly engineered wall as a “Functioning Finish”. Often the R-value is compromised by thermal bridging; drafts, convection, conduction, or reflection of energy (heat), resulting in a lower effective R-value anywhere from 20%-60%. Rated with a low K-value of 0.058W/mK, a thin layer on the exterior of a building is all it takes to lead to better energy efficiency, reduced heating and cooling costs, and improved comfort inside the building. Adding just 3mm of Vipeq Thermal CorkShield™ fills in gaps and cracks and effectively increases the thermal resistance of the overall wall system.
